Northwest Health Fights Food Insecurity with Annual Peanut Butter Drive
4/2/2025
In celebration of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day on April 2, Northwest Health is proud to announce the success of its third annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive. The hospital's efforts to fight food insecurity in the local community resulted in the donation of more than 3,200 jars of peanut butter.
“At Northwest Health, we believe that no one in our community should go hungry," said Juli McWhorter, Administrative Leader of Northwest Health, CEO of Northwest Medical Center — Willow Creek Women’s Hospital and Northwest Health Physicians’ Specialty Hospital. "That's why our team members are passionate about supporting local hunger relief efforts through volunteering, donations and special initiatives like the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive. By coming together to provide nutritious food to our neighbors in need, we can make a real difference in the lives of families across the region."
The donated peanut butter will be distributed to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank and The Manna Center, providing families in need with a shelf-stable, protein-rich food item. Peanut butter is a particularly valuable donation as it is nutrient-dense, has a long shelf life and is a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of recipes.
Northwest Health's commitment to addressing social determinants of health extends beyond this annual drive. The hospital supports local organizations to provide access to healthy food, housing and other essential resources that contribute to overall well-being. These efforts are part of Northwest Health's broader mission to improve the health and quality of life for the communities it serves.
"We are grateful for the generosity and compassion of our team members and community," added McWhorter. "By working together, we can ensure that no one in our region goes hungry and that families have the nourishment they need to thrive."
