SSRH Senior Circle to host Winter Wonderland Dance Dec. 13
11/25/2013
Siloam Springs Regional Hospital’s (SSRH) Senior Circle Chapter will host a Winter Wonderland Dance from 6-9 p.m. the evening of Friday, Dec. 13 featuring the Jack Mitchell Big Band inside the Cherokee Casino’s Qualla Ballroom.
The evening will include dinner, prizes, a mini informational fair featuring the event’s gold partners, music and dancing to Big Band music as well as a celebration of the holiday season. Cost for Senior Circle members is $10 and for nonmembers cost is $30. The $30 ticket price includes a one-year membership to the Senior Circle program in addition to the evening’s event.
“Those who have heard the Jack Mitchell Big Band before know what a wonderful ensemble they are. For those who haven’t had an opportunity – this will be a real treat for the community,” said Aimee Morrell, SSRH Senior Circle advisor. “We do have a limited number of seats available, so you’ll want to purchase your tickets before they’re sold out.”
According to the band’s website, the Jack Mitchell Big Band was formed in 2008 after director and hall of fame drummer Jack Mitchell retired. Currently the band is managed by Ron Thurston and directed by Bill Punch. The band continues to perform in the Northwest Arkansas area, featuring a variety of music, including swing, pop, ballads, show tunes, rock and other styles of music arranged for big band performances. The band consists of 15 talented musicians and features Susan Wizer as vocalist and Keith Wood as trumpet soloist.
“This event will be a celebration of Senior Circle’s fourth anniversary in Siloam Springs,” Morrell said. “Currently, our Siloam chapter has more than 450 members who are ages 50 and better. We’ve had several dances throughout the year with country and ’50s music, but this will be our first Big Band performance so I’m really excited to see everyone out on the dance floor having a great time.”
In addition to the dinner and dance, one of the event’s gold partners – the Travel Masters – has an overnight stay offer available.
“The Travel Masters came up with an overnight option through the Casino’s hotel that works perfectly for those that might not want to drive home after an evening of dancing –
especially if the weather isn’t favorable,” Morrell said. “This gives our guests a little less to worry about when the evening comes to a close.”
Several community businesses have contributed to help make the winter dance possible.
“I’m really thrilled with the response the event has produced,” Morrell said. “We have six gold partners that have generously given their time and funds to help make this evening possible. We really want to thank the Cherokee Casino, Good Shepherd Hospice, Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation, Community Physicians Group, Peachtree Village and The Travel Masters for all of their help and efforts. They also will be present that evening during the mini informational fair.”
